She walks
toward the edge
of the precipice

Closer to the edge
She looks down
 
dust swirls around her foot
one step
she looks behind her
at vast desert
 
something shimmers
at the edge of the horizon
 
water?
relief?

the dry ground crumbles
under her foot
 
she looks forward
blue azure sky
wispy clouds
 
beauty?

open empty space
