| The following rules are used with this
PBeM. Please read and follow them if you are a part of or wish to be a
part of the USS Atlantis PBeM / Sim.
1. All posts are done in third person,
novel style format. The easiest way to sum this up that this is done as
past tense reviewing the person(s) involved in the post. For example, the
correct manner would be:
'John Smith was walking down the corridor.'
Not:
'John Smith is walking down the corridor.'
Nor:
'I was/am walking down the corridor.'
2. When submitting a post to the USS Atlantis
List Serve (which distributes all the posts to everyone else), please lay
it out as follows:
Title of the Post
By which Character(s)
Occasionally, the USS Atlantis does joint
missions with other independent Star Trek PBeMs. When this happens, please
also include USS Atlantis between the two lines so that when your post
is forwarded to the other ship, it will be clear whether it is from our
ship or the other one.
3. This sim has been voluntarily rated
R by the GM. This means that though there is limited scope for vulgarities,
violence and intimate liaison, overuse of these will not be tolerated.
No intense graphic scenes of horror, sex or extensive use of swear words
will be appreciated. Such actions are not Star Trek.
4. Unless circumstances prevail, each character
on the ship must make at least one post a week in order to keep the story
line moving forward. This post should be several paragraphs long.
This however is a minimum, and more is appreciated if possible.
5. However, in regards to rule 4, the GM
also understands that sometimes people have real lives to lead and that
sometimes things like holidays, illnesses etc. can occur. If there should
be a case when you will not be able to post for a while, please notify
the GM so that a LOA or Leave of Absence can be arranged, entitling the
person from time off from the game and allowing for arrangements for their
character to either become an NPC or be removed for a while from the ship.
6. All posts should be in English only.
However, we accept both Standard English and American English spelling
and grammar but please be aware of differences between both types. For
example, the word 'pants' means something different in both versions (In
standard English, Pants is a form of underwear, in American English, Pants
are a person's trousers).
7. No Out of Character (OOC) abuse will
be tolerated. Flaming or insulting other players is a strictly no no affair.
If you have a problem with another player, then please contact the GM
who will try to resolve the matter peacefully.
8. Posts to the USS Atlantis list serve are NOT
moderated before being sent out to the group. We are not your English teachers. Please ensure that you have used good
spelling and grammar throughout your post, double checking your post before
sending it into the list serve. We understand that spelling and grammar
errors can occur, but these should be kept to a minimum.
9. Plots are created by the GM and should
be followed through. If you are having trouble with the current plot, please
notify the GM who will try to help you through. If you don't like the
plot, tell the GM and explain why so that she can try and create a
better one for players next time. Do not, however, start plots of your
own accord. If you have an idea, please notify the GM to discuss it.
10. We welcome players to also create their
own sub-plots. These could run for the duration of one episode or be an
ongoing thing for a while. However, we ask that you consult the GM if
you plan to introduce a sub-plot so that she can work it into the story
line and make sure it is fair to the other players. Also, please also do
not disrupt or throw elements into another player's subplots without first
consulting that player.
11. Please ensure that you do read the
other posts for the current episode. 90% of continuity errors made by players
comes from people not carefully reading other people's posts. A weekly
newsletter is produced by the GMs through the list serve as well with the
aim of keeping people aware and on track with each plot as well as discussing
a number of other things. Please do read this as well.
12. The GM is the Games Master for this
game. Her word is
final, however, she is willing to listen to any concern or suggestion in order
to make the game better.
If you have any problems or any questions
about anything, then please contact the GM who will be happy to try and
resolve them. |
