On fair day, be sure to have two or three people on hand to direct traffic, both inside the building and outside. The chairperson should verify those who attend the fair by matching their information to the registration information. Not all who register will attend the fair. The judging chairperson and judges should be informed of any changes. The building facilitator should be sure that all rooms are open, tables are set up and ready. He/she should also be on hand to provide technical assistance if needed. This person should also be sure that chairs and sound system have been set up for the awards ceremony. People should be on hand to welcome guests and show students where their assigned areas are so that they can set up. Schedules should be handed out (with assignments) to avoid confusion. The trophy chairperson should make sure that all awards are set up and ready for the closing ceremony. The publicity chairperson should be sure that photographers are taking pictures of various activities. Fair day will be hectic, but with enough helpers and runners, it can run smoothly. I suggest using students to assist, even if they are not actually participating in the fair. Just make sure they know how to direct people and find the tech helper. |
