Whether planning a school-wide or a regional tech fair, you will need a group of people you can depend on to assist. Here are suggested committee members: Chairperson, Building facilitator, Trophy chairperson, Judging chairperson, Publicity chairperson, Funding Chairperson. The Chairperson will be the coordinator for the entire event, and will check with each chairperson to be sure that things are in place. The Chairperson will register students and coordinate communication between all areas. The building facilitator will arrange for a location and layout of the tech fair. He/she will also arrange for security, if needed. Duties will also include ensuring that adequate electrical needs have been provided for, including Internet access. He/she will be responsible for setting up and taking down before and after the fair. If refreshments are served, this facilitator will be in charge of that. The trophy chairperson will be responsible for ordering trophies, ribbons, certificates, etc. He/she will hand out awards, and will determine the places according to the rubrics the judges complete. The judging chairperson will be responsible for contacting and lining up judges from the community. He/she will make assignments so that judges know which categories and projects they will be grading. This person will make sure judges have all materials needed, and that they are welcomed and provided for when they are on-site. This person will act as final arbitrator in case of any disputes. The publicity chairperson will be responsible for flyers, newspaper announcements, etc., before and after the tech fair. The funding chairperson will be responsible for obtaining donations of money and supplies. He/she will need to keep records for funds obtained and expended. This person will also send thank you letters to donors, and will be sure that they are recognized during the fair. Choose your committee members wisely, and the whole experience will be much less stressful. |
