The Georgia Tech fair uses these categories:  Non-Multimedia Applications; Individual and Team Multimedia Applications; Animated Graphic Design; Non-Animated Graphic Design Portfolio; Hardware and Robotics; Intranet/Internet Applications; Project Programming; Individual and Team Programming Challenge.

My school isn't quite ready for some of these categories, so we have come up with a list of ones that we will use, based on software available at my school. These include:  PowerPoint; Word Processing; Internet; Animated graphics, Non-animated graphics; Keyboarding; Graphic Organizers; Excel; Technology Literacy; CD Decoration; Video editing/production.

Here are some ideas for projects in each category:

• PowerPoint
• Word - Research papers; brochures; flyers
• Internet - Scavenger hunts; web pages; Hot Potatoes activities
• Animated graphics
• Non-animated graphics
• Keyboarding - speed and accuracy
• Graphic Organizers - spelling and vocabulary words, science or social studies themes, parts of speech
• Excel - formulas and charts/graphs
• Technology literacy
• CD Decoration - decorate a CD in any fun way you like
• Video editing/production - character ed. skits, spelling or vocabulary words, fairy tales, simple stories
